As we are kicking off our second week of the 2022 Sports and EventTech program, meet HomeGround. HomeGround is a platform that helps aspiring cricketers and coaches level up their game by providing professional-level training metrics through AI technology. We met with Santosh Vuppala, one of the founders of HomeGround, to learn more about HomeGround’s mission and what goals they are hoping to accomplish with Startupbootcamp Australia.
Santosh explained that AI technology is currently being used in almost every aspect of sport; training, recruitment, sponsorship, in-game and post-game analytics, predicting sports outcomes, fan experience, and management. Despite the growing applications of AI technologies in sports, many of these technologies tend to be inaccessible to the majority of athletes and teams due to the high price of development. HomeGround exists to make AI technology for sports metrics more affordable, accessible, and accurate.
HomeGround offers affordable video analysis for aspiring athletes where expert coaches provide real-time feedback. The next step for HomeGround is to work with professional athletes and coaches to analyse performance using AI analysis and computer vision, reducing the dependency on the expensive external sensors that are the current industry standard.
As they progress through the program the founders of HomeGround are looking to expand their network and learn from industry leaders to grow their business. Meeting mentors and recieving feedback at selection days has already helped the founders refine their global market strategy and product roadmap.
