Farmspeak is an agritech startup that offers proprietary technology for livestock farmers to stay ahead of climate change by monitoring the well-being of their animals, remotely controlling vital environmental parameters for optimum productivity, and improving sustainable farming practices through remote sensing (RS), artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
The problem we're solving
We are solving the problem associated with climate variability leading to increased animal stress, high livestock mortality rates, low productivity and reduced profits. Traditional methods like burning charcoal for heating contribute to significant CO2 emissions and high energy costs. Limited access to real-time data and labor-intensive practices hinder informed decision-making, causing economic losses. These challenges necessitate innovative technologies and sustainable practices.
Our solution
Our innovation leverages Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, smart sensors, and mobile technology to monitor animal well-being, remotely control environmental parameters, and promote sustainable farming. Starting with poultry, we provide farmers with a solar-powered, climate-smart kit that reduces CO2 emissions, saves 43.8% on energy costs, and boosts profits by 70%. This net-zero carbon system enhances productivity and addresses the urgent need for sustainable practices.
Our differentiator
Our integrated technology covers the entire farming process from production to market, including automated climate control, farm management tools, and access to market data. Our patented PCB design makes our technology scalable to other livestock sectors (aquaculture and also greenhouse farming), offering a unique advantage. The affordability, plug and play mode of our solution ensures farmers can easily integrate technology into their processes, addressing their limitations in their operations.
Biggest achievement
Empowering over 2,000 smallholder poultry farmers, with 76.8% being women. We have successfully helped these farmers save approximately 840,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions, brooded over 1 million birds, and reduced energy costs by 43.8%. Our partnerships with key organisations such as the Poultry Association of Nigeria, Ministry of Agriculture, and GSMA further validate our impact. We've been recognised by the Royal Academy of Engineering UK, USAID, Youth Business International UK, and Impact Hub.
