The problem we're solving
The high seas are the biggest and one of the last areas on earth where oversight has been limited and risk assessments crucial. This has caused illegal fishing, migration, trafficking, ship-to-ship transfers, cable-cutting, oil spillage and signal interference and spoofing, causing economic loss and a challenge to national security. Additionally, fleet control and oversight may be hampered as well as cost increases due to suboptimal routing.
Our solution
The unprecedented surge in space technology has allowed the complete and continuous surveillance of every corner of the earth. Every day, new small cube satellites are being launched in low-orbit that make existing space products more cost effective in the future, opening a vast amount of data that tracks anything on the planet. Using state-of-the-art AI algorithms, valuable information can be extracted for national security, economic surveillance, fleet oversight and route optimisation.
Our differentiator
While existing solutions use AIS (ship signal) data and classical statistical algorithms (inadequate for complex/new situations) to extract information. We have developed a complete platform that also integrates optical and SAR satellite imagery, which are crucial when AIS is spoofed or missing (common problem). The use of advanced AI models and our knowledge thereof, has enabled a faster and more integrated platform with many data inputs, giving complete situational awareness.
Biggest achievement
- Development of SAR imagery processing (high-performance for time-sensitive objectives) and training an AI model on that data - Development of a production-ready integrated (with satellite providers) web platform with data visualisation and report generation - Secured contract with the Colombian Navy for drug trafficking surveillance - POC and winning bid on tender with the Chilean Navy regarding illegal fishing detection - Letters of intent with two companies in Spain
