The problem we're solving

Global industries are shifting toward biological inputs, but seaweed supply is structurally constrained. Temperate seaweed is limited by wild harvest, seasonality, and cost, while tropical seaweed is abundant but trapped in a legacy value chain. The missing layer is certified, traceable, specification-driven processing that makes tropical biomass usable for alternative and higher-value global markets.

Our solution

AlgaTrop is building the industrial platform for tropical seaweed products, beyond the legacy value chain. Starting in the Philippines, we use our MUZE processing architecture to convert farmed tropical seaweed into standardized, traceable, multi-output bio-inputs for agriculture, while upgrading smallholder farming into export-ready systems.

Our differentiator

AlgaTrop combines tropical biomass access, cooperative-based supply upgrading, and proprietary multi-stream processing in one platform. Unlike single-product processors or temperate seaweed suppliers, MUZE valorizes multiple seaweed fractions, embeds QA/QC and traceability, and is designed for replicable regional hubs across tropical production zones.

Biggest achievement

We established a functioning pilot seaweed biorefinery in Zamboanga Del Sur, Philippines, validating a basic MUZE processing system and demonstrating diversified ingredient production from tropical seaweed. We have also secured a formal partnership with the Tawi-Tawi provincial government to support industrial scale-up in the province with 50% of national seaweed production, and achieved wide stakeholder buy-in for our vision for the island province.
