FoodTech Tasmania Cohort 2022 Announced and Coming to Launceston in July.

Ten Food Innovation startups from around the world have been selected to join Startupbootcamp’s FoodTech Tasmania Accelerator beginning in mid-July in Launceston. After filtering through thousands of startups from around the world, the top ten were chosen to join the program through a rigorous selection process.

Innovating our food systems is crucial to ensure we have enough supply to feed our growing populations within the limits of our planet. These ten startups have the right ideas, passion, and drive to change the way we grow, process, purchase and/or consume food.

The startups will participate in a 12 week accelerator program, starting mid-July in Launceston, Australia, UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. Using a combination of face-to-face and online delivery of our world-class learning modules the startups will refine their business models, pitches and strategy for accelerated growth.

As they step through the program the startups will be mentored by industry leaders and get tailored support from experienced entrepreneurs, from our investors, and our partners including: the Tasmanian Government, Meat & Livestock Australia, Asahi Beverages, and Treasury Wine Estates. Together, our ecosystems, fueled by the passion of these 10 startups and the enthusiasm of our network, will bring about sustainable and positive change to the food industry.

The 10 top global startups were selected to join the 2022 cohort are:

  • AgriStarBio (Portugal): Utilising recycled organic matter and nutrients to create premium organic mineral fertiliser
  • Awsum (India): Ayurveda inspired functional food and beverages
  • Clever Fruit Products (Canada): fermented fruit ingredients for functional foods and beverages, supplements and nutraceuticals.
  • EnvoPAP (United Kingdom): Vertically integrated sustainable materials company creating sustainable and commercially viable alternatives to single-use plastic
  • FlyFarm (Hong Kong): Combining in house designed robotics with the bioconversion power of insects to transform the protein landscape.
  • FreshBox (Kenya): solar-powered cold storage solutions for fresh produce farmers, aggregators and market vendors
  • NovoNutrients (USA): cleanly fermenting carbon dioxide and hydrogen into microbial, alternative protein ingredients for feed and food.
  • TotalCtrl (Norway): food transparency platform that enables elimination of food waste and allows for increased traceability throughout the entire food value chain – from farm to fork.
  • Transport Genie (Canada): Utilising technology to minimise animal welfare concerns during live transit and minimise biosecurity outbreak risks on farms.
  • Tummi Yummi (USA): Patent protected probiotic eggs to revolutionise good gut bacteria delivery through the cleanest protein available: the egg.
